OBITUARY

(Click on picture to make the obituary large enough to read. If that doesn't work, I have posted the text below the picture.)

Obituary -- Jerusalem -- 33 A.D.

Calvary

Jesus Christ, 33, of Nazareth, died Friday on Mount Calvary, also known as Golgotha, the place of the skull. Betrayed by the apostle Judas, Jesus was crucified by the Romans by order of the Ruler Pontus Pilate. The causes of death were crucifixion, extreme exhaustion, severe torture, and loss of blood.

Jesus Christ, a descendant of Abraham, was a member of the house of David. He was the Son of the late Joseph, a carpenter of Nazareth, and Mary, His devoted Mother. Jesus was born in a stable in the city of Bethlehem, Judea. He is survived by His mother Mary, His faithful Apostles, numerous disciples, and many other followers.

Jesus was self educated and spent most of His adult life working as a Teacher. Jesus also occasionally worked as a Medical Doctor and it is reported that He healed many patients. Up until the time of His death, Jesus was teaching and sharing the Good News, healing the sick, touching the lonely, feeding the hungry, and helping the poor.

Jesus was most noted for telling parables about His Fahter's Kingdom and performing miracles, such as feeding over 5,000 people with only five loaves of bread and two fish, and healing a man who was born blind. On the day before His death, He held a Last Supper celebrating the Passover Feast, at which He foretold His death.

The body was quickly buried in a stone grave which was donated by Joseph of Arimathea, a loyal friend of the family. By order of Pontius Pilate, a boulder was rolled in front of the tomb and Roman Soldiers were put on guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that everyone try to live as Jesus did.
Donations may be sent to anyone in need.

Could you find a way to enlarge the text, or post it separately? I couldn't get the image to expand enough to be readable. Of course, the issue might be my near-antique monitor...

Great blog!

An addendum to this obituary is necessary due to the omission of the greatest accomplishment of Jesus Christ.
The rest of the story....

He Has Risen From the Dead!

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, Jesus Christ,
so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Except for Jesus, everyone has sinned and falls short of God's glory. (Romans 3:23)

The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us to be the propitiation for all the sins of mankind. (Romans 5:7-9, 1 John 2:2)

It was a death that he freely accepted.  Just before he gave up his spirit, Jesus said, "It is finished." (John 19:30)

There is no longer any sacrifice for sin! God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. (Romans 8:11)

We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed his blood, sacrificing his life for us. (Romans 3:22-26)

Sacrifice and offering you do not desire. The sacrifice you desire is a broken and contrite heart. (Psalm 51:17-18)

Just as salvation cannot be earned by good works, neither does it need good works to be maintained or sustained. Good works and changed lives are the inevitable results of salvation. (James 2)

These things are written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. (1 John 5:13)
Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! (2 Peter 3:18)
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God--what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2)
Celebrate the Resurrection!
