My scripture reading this morning spoke to me about the tragedy in Paris and the efforts of radical Islam to destroy Christianity, western culture, and those who oppose them:
Psalm 112:6-10:
"Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered.
"They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for them.
"They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly.
"They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor.
"The wicked will see this and be infuriated. They will grind their teeth in anger; they will slink away, their hopes thwarted."
May God's grace cover the people of Paris and may they find Him in the midst of their grief and loss on this sad day. We stand with the world in praying for Paris today as we remember our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Let us never forget that despite events like those in Paris, the battle is over, the war has been won, Christ is risen, and sits at the right hand of God the Father. Soon He will return, the curse will be lifted, and eternity with Him will begin. Amen.
